Is Richmond Academy accredited?

Yes, Richmond Academy is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools-Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS), the National Council for Private School Accreditation (NCPSA), and the Virginia Council for Private Education (VCPE).

Are the teachers certified?

Yes, all RA teachers have at least a four-year degree, with some holding advanced degrees. Each teacher holds the appropriate credentials in their area(s) of expertise.

Are scholarships available?

There are scholarship opportunities through the Partnering for Eternity (PFE) program.

What are the school day hours?

Monday-Thursday, 8:15am – 3:15pm
Friday, 8:15am – 12:30pm

Some activities/groups meet after dismissal for up to an hour.

Are before school care or after school care available?

Before school care is available from 7:30am to 8:00am at no charge.

Elementary after school care is available from 3:15pm to 6pm Monday-Thursday, and 12:45pm to 6pm on Friday.

Signup is not required for Aftercare, which may be used on an as-needed basis. Aftercare is charged in 30-minute increments and is billed monthly.

When is the first day of school?

The first day of school is typically around the third week of August. This allows students to complete first semester and take exams prior to Christmas break.

Are uniforms required?

Yes, Richmond Academy requires students to wear school uniforms in order to:

  • Simplify clothing choices for parents and students
  • Build a sense of school spirit and unity among the students
  • Support a disciplined environment
  • Provide visibility and recognition of students when on field trips
  • Eliminate distractions that can be caused by clothing choices

What are the tuition and fee rates?

Can international students attend Richmond Academy?

Yes, RA is certified with the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) to accept international students who need an F-1 student visa to study in the United States. Visit our International Students page for information on the application process.

Do students have to be members of a particular church to attend Richmond Academy?

No. Although RA is an Adventist Education institution supported by several area Seventh-Day Adventist churches, we welcome students from the community at large to apply.

Which area congregations directly support the school?

RA receives direct support from the following Richmond-area Adventist churches:
