Richmond Academy was established in 1911.
It has been in continual operation, although at different locations,
since that time. It
owes its beginning to the early members of what is now known as
the Patterson Avenue Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Richmond Academy has a rich heritage based
on the philosophy that an individual’s purpose is to love and serve God and his
or her fellow man. Because of its dedication to Christian
education, Richmond Academy has now evolved into a multi-ethnic,
accredited K-12 school where faith and academics have been successfully
integrated.
Accreditation
Richmond Academy is operated in conjunction with the Potomac Conference
and North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists. It is
accredited by the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists
Board of Education K-12, the Virginia Council for Private Education
Commission on Accreditation, and the Virginia State Department
of Education. Richmond Academy is one of over 5,600 schools,
colleges and universities operated by the Seventh-day Adventist
Church. These schools are located worldwide in 145 countries
and educate over 1,100,000 students annually.
